Recent Adventures

Last Sunday was another warm sunny day so we ate lunch at the park and let Caleb feed the ducks.

Here's Caleb after playing outside a little while. We thinks he looks like a little coal miner.

Caleb and his friend Claire playing in a cardboard box transformed into a play house. Yes, Caleb got a much needed haircut this week and he didn't do any better. We still have to restrain him ...

Caleb "Helping"

We've been moving furniture here and there to get Clara's room ready. Caleb has been a big help! Here are my boys taking a part an old plywood desk we've had since we were married.

Rites of Passage: 2 Down, 1 to Go

Some friends and I have been talking lately about the 3 rites of passage out of babyhood - dropping the pacifier, going to a big boy bed and potty training. Well we are two down and one to go!
Caleb moved to a full-size bed two weekends ago and has been doing really well. The first night we found out that he knows how to open a door if he really wants to, so we now have a doorknob cover on keep him locked in. Besides that, there haven't been too many issues. I think he is still getting used to it because he wakes up once a night, goes to the door and screams for Mama. One of us has to go up there and put him back in the bed, but he goes right back to sleep.
When we bought his crib two years ago, we went ahead and bought his bed, bookshelf and dresser. We used the same color scheme for his big boy room as we did the nursery, so really all we had to buy was the bedding - and we didn't even have to buy that thanks to an early birthday gift from the GrandWises. We also put his train table in his room, which often provides reason to not immediately take a nap...
His crib has been moved into Clara's room - still a HUGE work in progress, but we are getting there. Caleb doesn't seem to be confused about his crib being gone and seems proud of himself when you ask him about his big boy bed.
So our little boy is growing up - pacifier is gone, crib is gone - two fairly easy transitions so far. As for that third rite of passage, I'm not crazy ... maybe we'll try sometime late summer.

2 months to go!

I've had a couple of requests from curious family members for a belly shot. Here I am with 2 months and a couple of days to go!

Fun Outside

I'm a week late in posting this. Last weekend was absolutely beautiful (we weren't so lucky this weekend) and we enjoyed time outside with friends.

Honey, I'm home. (Here's Caleb and Addison playing in our neighbor's play house.)

Weekend in Kingsport

We spent last weekend in Kingsport. It was good to get away and Caleb enjoyed spending time with Grandma and Grandpa. Cousins Jackson and Jenna also came over for a night to visit.

Wrestling with Grandpa

Our last night there, the whole family came down with some kind of stomach bug or food poisoning. Here are Daddy and Caleb trying to rest before our drive back home.

Here's some video of Caleb and Jackson having a blast. Jackson was the one pulling Caleb down at Thanksgiving, but Caleb was the rougher one this time. Oh and by the way, you can always access all the videos from the old site as well as new videos by clicking on the link called Good Family Videos on the right side of this screen under Other Links.

Books!

Caleb loves books! Here's what his room routinely looks like after pulling all his books off his bookshelf and out of his wagon.

Waiting for someone to read to him...

Some recent Caleb moments

Wrapped up in a blanket watching Sesame Street - or "street" as he calls it. His favorite character seems to be the Count, which is the one character that only gets like 5 seconds per episode.
